Physical Therapy
Physical Therapists are licensed healthcare professionals who help individuals to maintain their health by teaching them certain steps or ways to prevent injury, take care of an injury, and attain a healthy, injury-free life. To help their patients attain a healthy, injury-free life, PTs examine each patient, develop a specific plan for each patient, and use treatment techniques to encourage mobility of a certain body part, decrease the amount of pain a patient feels, and return function to certain body parts. Often, PTs work with fitness programs, but can also work with the elderly and in specific practices. Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is often overlooked, being so closely related to services provided through physical therapy, many individuals are not sure what occupational therapists do for a living. Unlike physical therapists, occupational therapists focus on the rehabilitation centered around a patient’s everyday activities. This includes helping kids so they can fully participate in school and social situations, helping people recover from sports injuries that hindered common skills, and providing necessary support to elders experiencing cognitive and physical changes.
