What is AED?
Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) is a national pre-health honor society with a chapter at Clemson University. It is designed for distinguished students who want to pursue a career in one of the health fields. We host weekly meeting in which physicians, dentists, pharmacists, therapists, and other health professionals come and speak to students about various topics including their own experiences and specialties. Joining AED will expose you to many aspects of various health professions and will offer opportunities for you to get involved with free clinics and tours of professional schools. Being a part of AED will help you make the connections and provide you the resources that will guide you on your journey to a career in pre-professional health!
What opportunities are there for members?
Meetings
Weekly meetings with health professionals are designed to inform club members about possible career paths and to provide shadowing opportunities. We also schedule exclusive tours to local health professional schools such as MUSC, USC-Columbia, USC-Greenville, and VCOM-Carolinas. |
Scholarships
There are several opportunities for scholarships within our chapter and nationally. One of the available chapter scholarships provides funds for a member to take the MCAT, DAT, or GRE. |
Volunteer
Looking to volunteer? Lend a helping hand to those in need in our local community. We support both local clinics: the Clemson Free Clinic and Rosa Parks Free Clinic. |
Clinical Experience
C-MED is a credited course developed by AED that streamlines the process of gaining clinical experience by allowing students to shadow health professionals at local hospitals on their own time. |
